kind of ironic…I go to school online and I'm working on a group project that deals with these EXACT same issues in this EXACT same context….
Your name doesn't match the name of any of the people in my class fortunately, but just to be safe, I turned in this information to the university I attend.
Good luck!

June 25th, 2009Why is the co-pay for dental insurance more expensive than health insurance?
June 22nd, 2009I compared the co pays on several reputable dental insurance companies and it is very expensive. Many things are not covered, even with the best dental insurance. Health insurance is usually a 10 dollar co pay for primary physicians and a 35-50 dollar co pay for specialty physicians. Is there any reason why dental insurance co pay is as expensive as it is?
Actually, the only time the copays are so low for health insurance is when you're dealing with those high-dollar plans provided by a lot of employers. (At least those are the types of plans that were provided be employers in the past; that's changing significantly because of the cost involved.) Trust me, these are FAR from the "norm."
As for dental insurance, the fact is that there are nearly as many organized networks for dental providers as there are for medical providers (where belonging to as many networks as possible is the best way to ensure you keep new clients coming in to your practice.) Dental insurance, by comparison to what you pay for medical coverage (particularly of the variety you mention) is also CHEAP. And I don't know very many people who would pay triple the price for dental insurance so they could get the $10 copay. In the end, it's really that simple.
Insurance is up in 4 days I just made a claim. Can I still switch insurance companies?
June 21st, 2009I have full coverage insurance in the state of Massachusetts, my insurance policy runs out in about four days I was planning on switching to Progressive however someone just keyed the hell out of my 2008 Highlander, can I get the insurance to fix it and still switch to Progressive?
Your policy covers anything that happens before the policy runs out, so it makes no difference if you change insurance later. However–and this is important–be sure to report the claim to your current insurance company before the policy expires so they can't say it happened after the expiration date. It's a good idea to call the police and get it on file there too.
How can you find out what auto insurance company a person has?
June 20th, 2009A friend of mine had their parked car damaged by a driver and the person that did it is not willing to give out their insurance information. There was a police report and unfortunately the insurance information was not captured. Is there any ways to find out what insurance company a person has? Maybe through the DMV or alternative? I realize they may not have insurance but it still would be worth to find out. The damaged car only has liability insurance.
The only way to find out what insurance the person carries is one…. if you have a license plate #…which you dooo… u would need to go to the police station… they are the only people that can get that.. and if they dont have insurance your out of luck..
an insurance company has NO ACCESS to getting insurance info by just a license plate #… to do that u would need Drivers License #, DAte of Birth, full name, address, and in some cases even a Social Security #……
What percentage of insurance premiums are ever paid out by insurance companies to their customers?
June 19th, 2009Considering that the insurance industry uses the government to force people to buy their product and frequently advertises on TV, it doesn't seem like a very high percentage of premiums are paid out. Does the insurance industry pay out even half of its revenues in claims? A quarter? 10 percent?
Wait, you're confusing two things - REVENUES, which means, total income, and PREMIUMS, which is income derived from selling policies.
Here's the industry average payout, on $1 of PREMIUM dollars:
Health insurance - $.99
Auto insurance - $1.12
Homeownrs insurance - $.87
Workers comp - $1.42
Property insurance (nonhomeowners, nonauto) - $.67
Life insurance - $.65
MOST of it's "revenue" is made from investment income on the reserves - NOT from selling the actual policy.

What are the negative long term consequences of "card hopping" to pay off my high interest credit cards?
June 19th, 2009I have been cautioned against taking a "line of credit" to pay off high interest credit card balances. Instead, I have been encouraged to keep using the 0% interest credit card offers for as long as it is offered at zero %. These cards are a dime of dozen these days.
As with anything in life, it is what you don't know that hurts you. If I embark in doing the card hopping strategy, I don't know what the long term consequences are in using these 0% offers. So, I kindly ask you the following questions:
1. Will it hurt my credit rating? Right now I have a very good credit score. I pay all my bills on time. It is the finance charges that are killing me.
2. Should I close the expiring 0% card as I open the new 0% card. At the end of 5 years I don't want to have a trail of credit cards that are still open balance. Or should I?
The time you're wasting bouncing the balances around you could have paid off the low balances first. Yes, most experts agree that it might be wiser to pay high interest off first, but Dave Ramsey says go for the psychological gains by paying off the lowest amounts first. Get a few victories under your belt, and watch how quick you get your credit cards paid off! Check out his book "Financial Freedom" and put his recommendations into his plan called "baby steps" this stuff is great. I picked up the book on ebay for $12.00 He has been Oprah and really drives home how to become debt free, I am not there, but I am not to far off! Good Luck kid!
How can my husband open a life insurance policy?
June 18th, 2009We recently found out we are expecting a baby and need to open a life insurance policy in case something would happen to him so we'd be taken care of. We have insurance that is paid for by his employer. How do we go about getting life insurance? Is it added to our existing medical insurance, or can we get it separately?
You can buy a separate life insurance policy on your own, in addition to requesting life insurance from your employer, if they offer it.
To get your own life insurance policy you can contact a local life insurance agent, or visit a life insurance quote service to request free life insurance quote comparisons online from several insurers. You can learn about term life insurance at http://free-best-life-insures-comparator-usa.blogspot.com/
Term life insurance offers you temporary life insurance for 1-30 years. It costs much less than permanent life insurance, because it is temporary, and builds no cash value within the policy.
Many young families choose 10, 20, or 30 year level term life insurance because it offers the most coverage at the lowest cost.
Level term life insurance provides coverage and premiums that remain the same each year for up to 30 years.
If you want, you can request life insurance from your employer, but you may have to pay for it, and if you leave your company, or get laid off, the group term life insurance plan ends. You may be able to convert it to a permanent life insurance plan, but it would cost you a lot more. And, if you waited until later to get your own life insurance policy, you may not be able to qualify for coverage if you develop a health condition.
You may want to consider a term life insurance policy for you and your husband. Imagine what it would cost to replace everything you do for your family, and will be doing for your growing family once you have a child.
Bets of luck to you and your husband. And, Congratulations!!!

Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don't have my own auto insurance?
June 17th, 2009I am planning to sell my car and cancel my auto insurance. If I want to rent a car, am I required to buy their rental car insurance, since I wouldn't have any other auto insurance otherwise?
If I use my Discover card to rent the car, Discover will provide me with a Collision Damage Waiver of up to $25,000. Would that count as insurance?
Yes Yes and Yes! It's very important to have rental insurance. Let's say you park the car on the street, and come back and its side swipped. They are going to come after you for it But if you have insurance, it should cover it.
